Who is CAHPI?
Home Inspection began as a consumer service in the l970's. To meet and regulate this need, the Canadian Association of Home Inspectors (CAHI) was formed in l982 as a Canadian Arm of the American society of Home Inspectors (ASHI). In l994 several provincial/regional organizations formed CAHI National and in September of 2002 the name changed to the Canadian Association of Home & Property Inspectors (CAHPI).
What is CAHPI's Mandate?
- To promote public awareness and confidence in the professional home inspector.
- To promote excellence within the profession and to improve inspection service through the CAHPI Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics.
- To provide members and others with a forum in which to enhance their professionalism through education and informed exchange of ideas, and other related benefits that can be best provided by a national association.
- To interact with other related professions, the legal community and government bodies as the leading authority in the home inspection profession.
What Is a RHI?
In Alberta, the designation of Registered Home Inspector, or RHI, is granted to individuals who have completed the CAHPI (Alberta) extensive education and ongoing Educational requirements.
Why Hire A Registered Home Inspector?
- Peace of Mind and more protection for you. You can be assured when you obtain the service of a RHI member, you are hiring a competent professional with proven ability, experience and impartiality.
- A RHI's role is principally educational: to provide you with a better understanding of the home you are considering purchasing.
- All RHI's follow the Standards of Practice of the Canadian Association of Home and Property Inspectors.
- A RHI Inspector gives you the information needed to make an informed decision
- A RHI inspection is an objective, visual examination of the condition of the home and is not to be mistaken as a guarantee or insurance policy on the house.
All inspections are performed under the strict guidelines of the CAHPI Professional Standards
